I love my slow cooker! These days it suits peoples’ busy lifestyles, when you just haven’t the time to prepare a great meal, but can leave ingredients in a pot all day and serve a hearty meal when you are ready.

Slow cookers come in all shapes and sizes these days. I have a crock pot (see pic) which is quite large (about 5 litres) and will easily serve a family of 6, but you can buy any size to suit your needs. These days they range from about £15 (about 3 litres) and go anywhere up to about £100.

All these recipes can be made either in a slow cooker, or by putting your oven on low (eg 140C) and slow cooking the food in a casserole dish all day.
